We provide the following blast cleaning methods: sand blasting/sandblasting, shot blasting/shotblasting and grit blasting services for the cleaning of stone, brickwork, concrete, marble, metal, wrought iron, wood, oak beams, steel beams, fireplaces, radiators, boat hulls, marine equipment, tanks, rails, swimming pools, railings, graffiti, chewing gum, moss, mould, grease, paint.



We use Sandblasting and Gritblasting to remove layers of old paint and other coatings. The blasting process will provide a keyed surface area which is ideal for rendering.



Blasting methods.

Sandblasting:
Compressed air propels very fine material at very high velocities cleaning or etching the surface. Sand was initially used in the past but the inhalation of dust particles causes silicosis. Nowdays other materials are used, like copper slag and other types of powdered abrasives. The process is very carefully controlled, using an alternate air supply, proper ventilation and protective clothing. Wet blasting can also me used for non metal surfaces. Sandblasting as a cleaning method has been used for over a hundred years.

Shotblasting:
Compressed air propels various small diameter steel balls or silicon carbide granules at high-velocity to clean a surface prior to coating.

Calcium Carbonate Blasting: Compressed air propels calcium carbonate compounds at low pressure. These are mixed with a small amount of water to clean the surface. This Calcium Carbonate Blasting process is 100% environmentally friendly.
